It is a tenet on which the school is founded that all students be given the opportunity to perform and also learn from others' performances, twice during the academic year. These performances make up our summer and winter series of concerts.
This festival for young classical musicians is approaching its third year in existence. Hosted by the Parents' Committee of Coole Music, it has become the 'Event of the Year' for young orchestras in the west of Ireland.
Coole Music's Play-Day has featured on our Spring Term events calendar since 2006. On this day all children who have reached a certain level learning string and wind instruments, get together to play chamber music in various groups, such as trios, quartets or quintets.
Every September, Coole Music hosts a Music Teacher Seminar. Guest lecturers are invited for this occasion and music teachers from different music schools and schemes in the region participate. The Seminars have proven to work well in developing teaching skills as well as providing a networking opportunity for teachers.
OURchestra Summer Camp is the brainchild of Katharine Mannion (Director, Athenry Music School) and Katharina Baker (Director, Coole Music). The Summer Camp is a residential camp held in August, and is run over 5 days for young musicians aged 10-16.
Every year, the Coole Kidz Choir carries on the beautiful Swedish tradition of bringing light into the darkness on Santa Lucia Day, 13th of December.
