Coole Strings - For advanced string players

Coole Strings

Coole Chamber Strings is an advanced ensemble for string players from approximately grade 5 upwards. CCS works as a project orchestra with 1-2 productions per year. A production usually has 6 Sunday morning rehearsals, a final rehearsal and 1-2 performances. You enter Coole Chamber Strings by audition.

Coole Strings was founded in autumn 2003. In the first production it was violins only, performing Telemann's D-major-concerto for four violins as well as Vivaldi's Double-Concerto in D-minor for 2 violin solo parts and accompaniment.

The young musicians came from Co. Clare and Co. Galway to rehearse on Sunday mornings in the Gort Community School and performed together with the mixed adult choir Coole Voices in Wexford (Camphill Community Duffcarrig near Gorey) and in Gort during November 2003.

In 2004 Coole Strings violinists were joined by violas and cellos and formed ‘Coole Chamber Strings' producing a highly appreciated version of the Corelli Christmas Concerto with young soloists from the orchestra as well as the slow movement of Bach's celebrated double concerto and Pachelbel's Canon. Again the orchestra was joined by Coole Voices for the ‘SOUNDS OF THE SEASON'.

In spring 2005 Coole Chamber Strings had its third production with Coole Voices. This time it was a ‘Musical Soiree' in Cloghan Castle . The suit the character of the castle, Coole Chamber Strings performed the Capriol Suite by Peter Warlock as well as 2 movements out of Benjamin Britten's Simple Symphony.
